Tell us about yourself.
As a change management practice leader at Fraser Health, I am passionate about helping people to be great at change.  I am an educator, internal Prosci trainer and founder of a thriving Community of Practice for a group of 60 transformation specialists making extraordinary and meaningful change in BC Healthcare.  When changes get tough, I work with our Sr. Consultants and internal clients to guide them in developing solutions to overcome challenges so they can deliver on large-scale, complex, initiatives.
How did you get into Change Management?
I really credit Andy Horlick of Navigo Consulting and Coaching with getting me hooked on change work.  When I graduated from University with a Geological Sciences degree, I returned home to my summer job with BC Hydro.  There, I had the good fortune to land a role in an initiative Andy was leading to reimagine the way BC Hydro provided customer care.  Since that time, I’ve worked on progressively more complex changes through a variety of roles; operational leader, change manager, consultant, managing consultant to the role I do today – leading and growing change capability in people and organizations.  Twenty years later, Andy’s still an amazing mentor, champion and friend.
Why did you decide to join ACMP Vancouver?
I joined ACMP Global around the time they began developing the Standard for Change Management as a basis for the Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) professional credential.  I was curious about how this work would advance the profession and I wanted to stay connected.  In 2016, I was thrilled to make change management history, alongside several other professionals in Vancouver, and become one of the first 500 CCMP’s in the world.
I may not be a familiar face to all ACMP Vancouver members.  My child care arrangements make attending evening events a logistical challenge.  I enjoy connecting with my change community online, at workshops or conferences, and over lunch.  I presented this year at the Global ACMP conference in New Orleans on Communities of Practice and I have the privilege of hosting a pre-conference workshop at the upcoming ACMP Canadian Regional conference together with Andy Horlick on building Change Scorecards.
What are you working on?
Right now, I am having fun building Change Scorecards!  I never thought I would say that about change measurement.  The Prosci Change Scorecard is a powerful framework for defining, monitoring and measuring change delivery and it has quickly become an invaluable tool in my practice.  Sponsors no longer need to rely on anecdotal information, or worse, find out way too late the change is off-course.  Sponsors are listening, gaining insight and taking positive actions in support of the people-side of change in a way they’ve never before.  It is generating more sponsorship of change management in my organization and proving that change management is worth it.
Do you have any recommended change management books / resources to share?
People, who know me well, know I love to curate change resources and tools. is still one of my favorite, go-to places for simple, plain language tools to address every consulting challenge imaginable.  I’ve used it as a resource for years.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I have two active, young boys and we live in a neighbourhood full of kids.  So, I spend a lot of time outside playing on our street, tossing balls, playing games, and bandaging scraped knees.  When I do get moments to myself, I choose gardening, yoga and shopping (in that order) as they refuel my soul.
