As the Strategic Change Management Lead on a large SAP Project in town, one of the key words driving our strategy is “deliberate”. History tells us that change will eventually happen organically among humans, but as change practitioners striving to transition large groups of individuals to the same place at relatively the same time, we can help the process by ensuring the actions of our change leaders are specific and focused. Two examples of “deliberate in action” on our project are establishing engagement protocols to guide stakeholder interactions so our gatherings are purposeful and effective, and discussing key messages at the end of our meetings to help participants think specifically how they will portray our progress and drive consistency in the information that is passed to other stakeholders. The advantage is clarity in purpose and also allows us to measure our effectiveness against our objectives. Our strategy has been well received and is paying dividends. It is a proactive approach that marries well with our ACMP standard approach.
