Tell us about yourself.
In my current role as Associate Director with UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies, my focus is on designing and developing adult professional educational programs in areas such as project management, business analysis, agile leadership and change management. In my 19 + years working at UBC, I have been specializing in online program development and building educational/industry partnerships to help educate and advance professional communities. I have a MEd from UBC and a BComm from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. I also hold a Certificate in Internet Marketing and a Certificate in Agile Leadership from UBC and am a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
Why did you decide to join ACMP Vancouver?
I was researching a new educational program offering in the area of change management, and wanted to ensure that I had the top professionals on our UBC Change Management Program Advisory Committee. So, of course, the first place I started my search was with the ACMP where I met the President, Daniel Watt and Director of Partnerships, Kelli Fitzmaurice who are now our UBC Program Advisors and helped with recruiting an all-star advisory committee.
What are you working on?
Together with some key thought leaders in the change management community, I am currently developing the UBC Associate Certificate in Change Management. The program is designed for those already working on change initiatives, who want to advance their career with applied skills and gain mastery of change management competencies that align with the ACMP Standard for Change Management.
Do you have any recommended change management books / resources to share?
One of the ACMP Board Members recommended Conversations of Change, A Guide to Implementing Workplace Change, by Dr. Jen Frahm. It is written in a conversational style and was an easy way for me to gain insights on some of the key methodologies and practical views on implementing change.
How do you like to spend time outside of work?
I volunteer with a few organizations, am an avid yogi and enjoy going for a run, or a walk with the dog. I appreciate coming home to my two kids and having a glass of wine while reading or watching a show.
